IPL - Law enforcement lets us down, again

The moving of the Indian Premier League to outside of the country, in my view, is a scathing indictment of the toothless, incompetent and irresponsible law enforcement structure of the country. It says out loud that the police in the country is not capable of assuring us security as we go about the daily business of living our lives, so it wants us to change our way of living. This refusal of the police, this time in the states of Maharashtra and Andhra Pradesh, to do its job in ensuring adequate security for both the elections and the matches, mirrors, albeit on a much more grand scale, the traditional attitude of the police in refusing to do their duty in enforcing the law. It is the same attitude which makes the police disallow people from venturing out at night, disallow boys and girls to mix during new year parties, and advising women to "dress modestly", all in the name of preventing untoward incidents. Instead of making sure there is a safe environment for citizens and the perpetrators of crimes are punished, they want people to change our way of living so that they don't have to do their job. The law enforcement structure of the country is broke, and in allowing the terrorists to affect the way we live, it is letting the terrorists win.
